Tempo map view

This chapter deals with the tempo map view of Melys. In this view you can

It works like the other main views in Melys, there is a ruler across the top showing bar lines and a scale in beats per minute (bpm) down the side. You can scale the view in either direction using the magnifying glass buttons.

Beneath the ruler, there is a scale showing the current timesignature and keysignature. It is not yet possible to edit these.

You can have several tempo map views open at the same time, although this is mostly pointless. Changes made in one view will be reflected in all other open views.

The tempo map view

Accessing a tempo view

Right click on the track information pane of the main track view. Then select Tempomap view from the menu. It does not matter which track you click on as there is just the one tempomap for the song.

Editing in the tempomap view

Note: There needs to be a better way to do some of these things.

Each tempo change is represented by a small square. These are connected by a line, the horizontal line shows the current tempo at that time. The scale at the left is in beats per minute, from zero up to a thousand BPM.

Changing the tempo

At present the way to change the tempo is to drag the square representing the tempo change to another place, hold down the shift key before dropping it. You can change the time of the change as well by this method.

Adding a new tempo change

At present the way to add a new tempo change is to copy an existing one using drag and drop. Click and drag on an existing tempo change square (there will always be one at the beginning at least) and hold down the control key when releasing the mouse button. A new tempo change will be created at the drop point.

Copying/moving a set of tempo changes

You can select a number of tempo changes by control-clicking them. Then, just like on all the other views, if you drag one one of the selected changes, all the selected changes will be moved or copied as a unit.
